When life gives you lemons, not everyone makes lemonade. Some take those lemons and create insane (maybe wild?) animations. This is the case for the latest artist to join the I AM project: Javier Soler, also known as Bastard Films.
MAM’s commitment to the planet is one of the biggest pillars of our philosophy. And that’s exactly the topic that this Spanish 3D artist addresses in his artwork. He brings together sci-fi surrealism and organic elements from flora and fauna. “In every animation, I try to mix the realistic and the abstract world, just like in life: one foot on the clouds and the other on the ground.”

"In this piece, I wanted to represent the unstoppable power of nature by capturing the moment when it blooms."
From MAM, Javier loves “the minimalist and elegant design.” He also created this beautiful animation inspired by MAM and featuring our PLANO 644. “I love MAM’s philosophy and the use of natural and recycled materials. In this piece, I wanted to represent the unstoppable power of nature by capturing the moment when it blooms even in those areas (like rocks) where life isn’t supposed to grow. It’s also a metaphor about recycling: creating a new life from waste.”
His series of liquid horses, cats made out of smoke, and infinity pools in the sky encourages us to reflect on the relationship between humans, technology, and nature. “In Spain, we need to improve our use of renewable energy. We have to invest more money into it, because our country has a very good potential for it. Siemens Gamesa, a Spanish company that is the leading supplier of wind power over the globe.”
And just like nature, creativity has its own pace. “Don't try to force the creative process, let it flow, and the spark will come”. Inspiration can take any form. It can be anything from a “techno-house, rap, or reggae song like Dance Inna Babylon from Dubfiles All Stars”, to a Filip Hodas art-piece, or skate. “Paul Rodriguez is the reason why I began skateboarding. Thanks to that, I got into photography, video editing, and 3D art. If I didn't got into skateboarding first, I would not be where I am now.”

Even though his imaginary world feels effortless real, don’t think for a second that playing with nature is easy. “Trying to recreate natural elements in 3D in a realistic way is one of the most challenging things to achieve.” But he knows the deal. “Patience. Sometimes people try to rush everything and get things quickly without effort. If you really love what you're doing, success will come. It's not time itself that is important, but what you do with it.”
The I AM project is a curated initiative by MAM which showcases the amazing talent of people who are making a positive impact with their work, inspiring us every day. Discover all of our I AM ambassadors here.
